O’Poésie is a French as a second language poetry contest open to youth in Quebec aged 10 to 17 years.
Organized by Canadian Parents for French, this provincial contest allows FSL students to share their experiences by using words in a fresh, creative way.
For its inaugural edition, O’Poésie received 63 poems: 13 in the 10-13 category and 50 in the 14-17 category.
The participants came from 5 different English School Boards: English Montreal School Board, Eastern Townships School Board, Lester B. Pearson School Board, New Frontiers School Board and Sir Wilfred Laurier School Board.
Canadian Parents for French in Quebec is pleased to announce the winners of this first edition:
10-13 Category: Entre la vie et la mort by Chloe Francey – Rosemere High School – SWLSB
14-17 Category: Ma mère by Tashya Weatherston – Westmount High School – EMSB
Canadian Parents for French would like to give a special mention to Emma Bastien from Beacon Hill Elementary School (LBPSB) for being the youngest participant to take part in the contest, as well as to Sandy Lee Sevigny and Journey Bardati from Alexander Galt Regional High School (ETSB) as well as Alicia Turgeon and Leah Summers from Chateauguay Valley Regional High School (NFSB), for having grabbed our attention.
