Join CPF QCNU for a free, in person sing-along event near you! We will be travelling across our vast territory to host workshops teaching and performing French-Canadian folk songs as a community.
This initiative is specifically designed for French-learners and will be presented both in English and in français facile.
This community learning will provide:
- an opportunity to learn new vocabulary and practice French in a safe environment,
- a connection to local Québécois culture,
- free snacks,
- a chance to win door prizes, and
- music to feed you soul!
Target age group: This workshop is specifically tailored for families with children aged 7-13, however older and younger youth can also participate and adults are expected to join in too!
Meet the Artists
Kerry Bursey
Kerry Bursey is a tenor and plucked string instrumentalist from Montréal, active on the early music scene across Canada. His voice is appreciated for its precise and luminous quality and he is a sought-after lutenist and guitarist, who’s invested in the rare practice of self-accompaniment, in early and folk music of northwestern traditions.
Megan Chartrand
Praised for her “light, fleet soprano” voice and “soaring, diamantine high notes” (Opera News), GRAMMY and JUNO nominated soprano Megan Chartrand feels equally at home singing early music, art song, chamber music and concert repertoire.
She fell in love with music learning French Canadian folk tunes on her father’s lap and is looking forward to sharing songs from her grandmother’s book “Les 100 plus belles chansons” in this workshop!
