The countdown is on: less than one month left until CPF Quebec’s annual
Concours d’art oratoire!
The Quebec Concours d’art oratoire is a French public speaking contest held every spring. Organized by Canadian Parents for French, it brings together secondary students from English schools across Quebec to showcase their French-speaking skills.
Individual students who think they have what it takes are encouraged to participate in the event, providing they have the backing of their French teacher.
The first place winners in each of the five Secondary 5 categories are eligible to compete at the National Concours d’art oratoire in Ottawa, ON on May 28, 2016 where they have the chance to win scholarships of up to $20,000 from the University of Ottawa, the University of Moncton, the University of Prince Edward Island, the Université de Saint-Boniface, the Université Sainte-Anne and La Cité Collégiale.
The Quebec Concours will take place on May 14, 2016 at the Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Montréal –Dorval (1900 route Transcanadienne), QC. Students will present 3-5 minute speeches in French on topics of their choosing in front of a panel of judges and an audience.
Better French skills are a key aspiration for Quebec’s non-francophone youth. The Concours program helps fulfill that aspiration by giving youth a meaningful forum in which to practice and develop their French speaking confidence.
Please register for the event by May 6th, 2016. Forms can be found at: https://qc.cpf.ca/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/Registration-Form-EN2.pdf
