It is said that one of our biggest fears is public speaking. And what’s the best way to get over our fears and become more resilient and confident? By facing them head-on!
The Concours d’art oratoire is a public-speaking competition for high school students who are learning French as a second language. Students are tasked with writing and presenting an original three to five-minute-long speech in French on a topic of their choice.
The winners in each category will receive prizes such as gift cards, t-shirts, books, and movie passes. Prizes range from $25 to $150 each.
All participants will also be entered into a draw for door prizes including gift cards, books, and other exciting swag.
The winners in grades 11 & 12 (Sec. 5 & CEGEP 1) are eligible to advance and compete in the National Concours d’art oratoire where winners receive scholarships from colleges and universities across Canada worth up to $33,000.
*PLEASE NOTE: If you are unable to attend in person, please contact us at infoqcnu[at]cpf.ca to see if you can participate virtually via Zoom.
Students from grade 7 – 12 (Sec. 1 – CEGEP 1) are eligible to participate.
The Concours is divided into 15 categories. Students will be divided into one of three grade level groups followed by one of five language level groups. The appropriate category in which contestants compete will be determined by a questionnaire in the registration form which evaluates their French-language experiences.
Students who speak French as their first language or who have attended a Francophone school for more than 3 years in Québec are not eligible to participate.
If you are uncertain about eligibility, please contact infoqcnu[at]cpf.ca.
